Improving graduation rates at all Knox County high schools will be the topic of an education summit Saturday, and organizers are encouraging all community members to join the effort.
The "Moving Forward Graduation Summit," open to parents, youngsters, churches and businesses, will be 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at Fulton High School in North Knoxville.
While most Knox County high schools improved their graduation rates over the past year, just two of the 13 met or exceeded the state's 90 percent target, according to the state Report Card.
Graduation data is not yet available for Hardin Valley Academy because this is the school's first year with seniors.
The event is "mostly for community awareness," said Jennifer Evans, director of work force development and education for the Knoxville Chamber, one of the event's organizers.
