Announcement To Parents And Members Of The School Community


Selecting A New Principal For Norwood


Fred Nidiffer, Director of Elementary Education for the Knox County Schools, is working closely with Superintendent McIntyre and others in order to select a new principal for Norwood for the 2009-10 school year. Mr. Nidiffer invites parents and other community members to offer your thoughts, suggestions, and comments regarding this important decision.


If you wish to contribute to this process, please send such comments by email to Mr. Nidiffer at nidifferf@k12tn.net by no later than Friday, April 10.

In your comments, you may wish to indicate what characteristics or qualities you hope to see in the school's new principal. What major challenges will the new principal face? What should be his or her first priorities as the school's new principal? Your thoughts will be of great value as the selection process moves forward.


Mr. Nidiffer regrets that he will be unable to respond personally to each of these messages, but please be assured that the views of parents and other community members will receive our full attention and consideration. Thank you for taking advantage of this opportunity.

On Friday PTA Volunteers took a van full of donated clothing items to the PTA Clothing Center. Thank you to everyone who cleaned out their closet for a good cause!

Norwood ranked 3rd among Knox. County Elementary Schools for "The Tennessee Department of Education has given the public access to the school-level results of the Tennessee Value-Added Assessment System (TVAAS), which indicates how effective a school is at helping its students"

MEET THE TEACHER (for grades 1st - 5th) has been scheduled for Friday, August 8 from 3 - 5pm. Class rosters will be hung on the front doors (and possibly the cafeteria entrance) at 2:45pm and we will have an opportunity to visit their classrooms and to meet their teachers.
