Yes, I support Generation Rescue. I believe those with autism can improve to the point of no longer having a diagnosis. There is at least one KCS student who has done so, and I know a child in Anderson County who has improved so greatly you would likely not suspect autism.

To me the only issue in "recovery" is the term. I see a lot of people saying, "My child has recovered, he used to have ASD now he only has PDD." That's still autism." I personally would like to see a movement from "recovery" to "improvement."

My daughter began talking days after removing dairy and decreasing wheat. Turns out she has borderline celiac disease. About 60% of those with autism have decreased glutathione production, and more than 50% have MTHFR mutations that impact glutathione production. It's estimated 70-80% of those with autism have gastrointestinal issues, and multiple studies have found measles in the guts of those with autism who have been tested. Porphyrin testing, the standard in the medical community for metal poisoning, has found significnatly elevated mercury, lead, arsenic, and other metals in those with autism, the percentage I'm unsure, can't remember any specific studies.

When those with autism have *good* Generation Rescue/DAN! style approaches, they make great progress. Not every child, but the majority do. If the kids with autism could get proper health care at diagnosis, along with ABA, speech, occupational therapy, etc, I would be willing to bet my house many of the kids in our community would have a lost diagnosis or be so high functioning by adulthood that independence would not even be a question.
