The Boy Scouts of America, Great Smoky Mountain Council will host their 21st Annual Distinguished Citizen Dinner on March 10, 2008 at the Knoxville Convention Center. The Honoree this year is Governor Bredesen. The Reception begins at 6:15pm and the Dinner follows at 7:00pm. Past Honorees include Bill Frist, M.D., Coach Phillip Fulmer , Senator Fred Thompson, Congressman Jimmy Duncan, Reggie White, and Jim Haslam II.

Hello all - I work in Scouting in the inner-city Knoxville area called the Empowerment Zone. This area has THE highest rate of poverty in the entire city/county area. 92-95 percent of the kids in the schools that I serve are on free or reduced lunch.
