Acording to a 2005 Harris Survey - young men that are in Scouting 5+ years have a HIGHER graduation rate from High School, a HIGHER graduation rate from College AND they have HIGHER grades in both Science and Math. Hmmm, maybe we need to PUSH Scouting as an "economic development plan".

I believe that it was and is a huge mistake for Knox County Schools to unblock access to web sites that present homosexual or lesbian, or bisexual or trandgender behavior/lifestyles in any way that could be construed as positive, or simply as "alternative".

No District can successfully serve youth, unless it can successfully raise and manage money. As the saying from the movie "THE RIGHT STUFF" goes: "if there are no bucks, there are no Buck Rogers". The Chehote CHAMPIONS District is pleased to announce our 2008 TaskFORCE Ambassadors (as of 2-14-2008). The Boy Scouts of America, Great Smoky Mountain Council will host their 21^st Annual Distinguished Citizen Dinner on March 10, 2008 at the Knoxville Convention Center. The Honoree this year is Governor Bredesen. The Reception begins at 6:15pm and the Dinner follows at 7:00pm. Hello all - I work in Scouting in the inner-city Knoxville area called the Empowerment Zone. This area has THE highest rate of poverty in the entire city/county area. 92-95 percent of the kids in the schools that I serve are on free or reduced lunch.

We have just started our 2008 fundraising campaigns. The money goes to help pay for uniforms, books, badges, outings, etc for these kids. NO kid is every turned away but EVERY kid has to show by their attitude and attendance that they ar
