I think it is great that KCS will participate in the 2 new teacher training programs. My concern is that it is very hard to get highly qualified math & science majors to become teachers because the salaries of a teacher are so much lower than they...

I am familiar with the ADP details, and will let you know what answers I will get next week from Nashville. I am told that there is no choice on the NAEP, but you are very right. The devil is in the details.

We will raise our standards and inspire and support our students to higher levels of achievement regardless of when or how the cut scores are set. It would just be easier if the state worked with us on this, rather than holding us back. You can r...

The assessment people in the State Department of Education are responsible for setting cut scores. Timothy Webb is the Commissioner of that department. A good synopsis of the TN (and American) Diploma Project can be found here: http://tennessee....

Tennessee and Knox Student Participation in Advanced Placement Courses Up

Scoring a 3 or higher on Advanced Placement courses directly correlates to a greater chance of success in college, according to national and local experts.

In the 2002-2003 school year, 2,527 students enrolled in an AP course compared to the 2007-2008 school year with 4,039 students in a co… Continue

Hey, Lola. Glad you are here! We met several years ago at one of Bob and Lara's famous holiday parties. I was a teacher at Fulton High School; you might recall my wish to start up a student newspaper at Fulton. It never happened. Instead I took leave to have a baby and go back to school myself.
