New Group for Sevier County Schools!

I just started a group for Sevier County Schools. Join up and let's talk about some things. With as many tourist dollars as Sevier County takes in, their's no excuse for our schools to perform at the low level they do. Gatlinburg-Pittman is showing us what it takes to have a first rate public high school. If they can do it, so can the other schools in the county.

School Security

Each student at Seymour High School has been issued a planner which doubles as a hall pass. The hallways will be monitored at all times by a principal, vice principal, or school resources officer.

Drug Testing for Students

My son plays football for Seymour High School,and when Fall Practice began, he brought me a letter saying that Sevier County had passed a policy that all students who wanted to participate in any sponsored sport had to undergo mandatory drug testing. NO other student group was singled out for this mandatory testing.

Before the testing was carried out, the School Board decided against enforcing the policy, due to complaints from players' families.
