In response to your "homecoming" blog...I attended Friday nights homecoming at Gibbs High and being new to the area, I was baffled by how the homecoming queens are elected....The winner raised $10,000 + ..all the girls together raised $29,000!!!! Where does that money go?????? I heard a comment from a group of students standing next to me and one girl said..the only way you can win is by having your "rich" parents donate a bunch of money...so in a sense...the "rich" parents PAY to have their daughter become homecoming queen..NICE...welcome to the 21st century of enabling our childen

I am a mom of four that are in the Knox County School System, Powell Schools. Prior to becoming a full time realtor with Realty Executives & Associates, I was a social counselor for the State of TN and then substituted in the school system for a couple of years. My children attend Powell Elementary, 2 in Powell Middle and 1 in Powell High.

Homecoming 2007-2008 For Powell High School

My daughter ran for Homecoming Queen this year and while I'll admit, she looked absolutely beautiful on the actual night and I was overjoyed for her because she enjoyed the night so well, the whole event puzzles me.
