Ellen,
Thank you for taking such an active role in this child's life. She is lucky to have you as an advocate.
Whittle Springs has had 4 different principals in 5 years and that kind of turmoil is not healthy. I have met with Dr. Jill Hobby, the...

Currently only 62% of KCS students who take the ACT score a 21 or higher. Our goal is that by 2020 at least 90% of students get a 21 or higher. This is not a KCS-derived standard - the ACT researchers say that earning a composite score of 21 highe...
Great video. The data posted below the video is quite impressive, academically and discipline-wise. I'm glad to see that you surveyed students too. Kudos to the entire Fulton staff - your efforts are paying off!
There is some benefit to a unified shared experience, but you're right, that's limited these days to tragedies, sporting events and American Idol. One advantage to modern technology is that you can watch what you want when you want to. So some tea...
Both my daughters got to see it in 1st and 3rd grade at Beaumont. They sent a permission slip home last week. I got the impression that most Beaumont families chose to see it. I know that Fulton students were able to see it in social studies and g...
Cathy,I'm sure Benny Perry, the principal at Austin-East, would be happy to give a group from School Matters a tour of the school. I know from his time as principal at Whittle Springs Middle School that he welcomes interaction with parents and com...
Indya, I stumbled accross school matters while searching for informaton on Beaumont Magnet. I was very impressed with the vision/goals of the school. Can you please provide me with your personal insight/experience at Beaumont. I live in the Farragut district but from what I've read so far - if I can, I will like to get my daughter into Beaumont.
Indya, that appears to be a Firefox bug that I first thought was only affecting me. So in a way, it's good to know it's not just a quirk on my browser. I have reported that as a bug with Ning. I will let you know what I hear.In the meantime, use Internet Explorer to check your messages. You should not have an error using the IE browser.
Indya - as a Ftn City "ex-pat" that now lives in West Knoxville, thanks for taking up the challenge to look out for schools in what I'll always consider "home". I know Ftn City and North Knox schools have different personalities than other areas of the county, and it can't be easy. Good luck!
Hey, Indya. Our recent email discussion prompted me to check out School Matters -- and here I am.Looking forward to sharing and collaborating with you and other folks.
Glad to see you here as well. I hope we can use this as a way for the community to give us feedback and create solutions.
