Until the state changes, a four day week will not allow any savings. At the present time the state mandates 180 days of school. If we went for 4 days-even going longer hours--we would still need to go for 180 days. There are some proposals in Nash...

Did You Know?

Last fall at a Knox County Board of Education meeting we played the video “Shift Happens”. This year an updated version was played at West High School’s Open House. The brief video is entitled, “Did You Know” and can be found at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pMcfrLYDm2U

I wish you would say that on the thread. As I said, I only brought it up because some very vocal people complained endlessly about that trip.

Karen,

I am excited to see all the different groups that will be impacted with the survey for the school calendar. It is my hope the parent or parents without a voice will speak up about their needs that might be different from the SOS group.

Karen,
I just wanted to thank you for representing the best interests of Knoxville's children. I appreciate the time you sacrifice from your family, friends, 'real' job, and personal interests to pursue the "greater good" for Knox County students.

Karen,

Do you know when the website for KCS regarding board minutes will be updated. Right now it's been since July. I would love to check up.

Thanks

Thank you for pointing out my posting mistake Karen - I was able to go in and correct it. What I meant to say was that 1 in 4 DON'T graduate from high school in Knox County - according to Korda's article. Still shocking to me, but not as dreadful as only having 1 in 4 graduate from high school!
