Pre-Kindergarten Roundup scheduled
Knox County Schools will hold a Pre-Kindergarten
Round Up to receive applications for the
Governor's Voluntary Pre-K Program the week of
April 28 at 14 sites around the county.
To attend the Pre-K Program, students must be four
years old on or before September 30, 2008 and
reside in Knox County.
All applications will be accepted however,
students who meet the following eligibility
guidelines determined by the State Department of
Education will be enrolled first:
1. Families who meet income eligibility for
free or reduced meals.
2. Students who receive special education and
have a current IEP.
3. Students in state custody.
4. Students who are English Language
Learners.
5. Students who have a parent in the military
deployed overseas.
6. Additional risk factors as determined on
the application.
Students may attend any program site regardless of
their zoned school, however
families must apply at the site they wish to
attend.
Families are asked to bring proof of residency in
Knox County (utility bill, rental agreement, etc.)
and verification of income (W-2 form, verification
of sibling's free/reduced meal status, paycheck
stub, AFDC, etc.)
Applications will be taken at the Pre-K school
sites at the following times:
Blue Grass Elementary Tuesday April 29
3:30-4:30 & 5:30-6:30 pm
Brickey-McCloud Monday April 28
8:30-10:00 am & 5-6:00pm
Cedar Bluff Primary Monday
April 28 3:00-5:00 pm
East Knox Elementary Thursday May 1
8-9:00 am and 5-6:00 pm
Ft Sanders Center Wednesday
April 30 9-10:00 am & 3-6:00 pm
Gibbs Elementary Tuesday
April 29 9-10:00 am & 5-6:00 pm
Karns Elementary/Annex Wednesday April 30
3-5:00 pm (Pre-K cafeteria)
Mooreland Heights Tuesday
April 29 2:00-6:00 pm
Pleasant Ridge Monday April 28
and Tuesday April 29
8-9:00 am
and 3:30-5:00 pm
Ritta Elementary Tuesday
