Does anyone know why Middle Schoolers are not allowed to ride
elementary buses? In theory, I understand why (a Junior riding
w/a Kindergartener), but a girl in our neighborhood used to ride the
early bus so she could study in the library. My oldest has started Jazz
Band and rehearsals are at 7:45 M,W,F mornings. The Middle and
Intermediate schools are on the same campus and share the same bus drop
off. He was told he can't ride the early bus. Is it due to

I was going to post this on the Hardin Valley group, but it has
ramifications for all high schools in the county. Sallee Reynolds
presented her team's plan for the new school in Hardin Valley tonight
at the School Board's workshop. This plan, if the Board approves it,
will not only be used at Hardin Valley , but could serve as a model for
the other 12 high schools in Knox County where these programs would be

In this morning's KNS, there was an article discussing how some school
systems are beginning their own police departments instead of employing
contract security personnel and working with local police departments.
How secure are our schools in your opinion? Would you like to see Knox
County Schools have its own police department? Where would funding come
from? Would this be at the expense of some classroom monies? Would it

Is there a more efficient way to post your child's teacher? Every year,
we all make the mad dash to the school to see the classes posted and if
a school supply list exits. This year, with three kids, I made three
different trips on three different days to find out who my childrens'
teachers would be. Only one school (Farragut Middle-thank you!) posted
pods and the school supply list before the tax free holiday. Farragut
Primary did post the school supply list on the Knox Co. website, but it
