Loving parents don't choose segregation: schools do through zoning

Well now, this article in USA Today is quite interesting.

How Many Homeschoolers?

Can you please let this forum know how many K-12 students in Knox County are homeschooled, and how many students are in private school?

School Politics, Power and Control

This is troubling... Is this about kids and education, or politics, power and control? $7.5 million is a lot of money for someone to vote for when their only rationale for voting for it seems to be that "it is late in the process and school starts Thursday."

Third Grade: First Day at First Lutheran

Picked Jacob up at 3:15. We would have walked the two blocks home, except for the heat. Just walking outside and I am drenched. Maybe we can walk home tomorrow.

"How was school?" "Awesome, Dad. I feel older. taller."

Awesome? From an almost 9 year old? Thirteen kids in the class, all the same as last year. Mr. Tim Holste, the third grade teacher, also mentors kids at Sylvan Learning Center. He also teaches 3rd-5th grade choir as well. I believe we have a new Spanish teacher this…
